  • Summary

    The May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities in Wilmington is currently seeking a Full-Time Counselor (Floating) focusing on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to implement clinical services in a classroom. In addition to providing support with managing challenging behaviors, and working with students directly in the classroom, prospective candidates will assist the clinical team in conducting assessments and obtaining and analyzing various forms of behavioral data used to improve the lives of our students. 

    Responsibilities

    • Work with Clinical Director and Behavior Specialist to complete behavioral assessments for assigned students.
    • Train staff on behavior plans and provide support with managing challenging behaviors (including data collection).
    • Assist in set up of initial behavior program and review casebook for assigned students.
    • Attend behavioral clinical, educational program review, and classroom meetings.
    • Collect data on behaviors as indicated on the data sheet (e.g., frequency, duration, interval, etc.).
    • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of behavioral procedures through observation and data analysis.
    • Provide direct instruction to the students (academics and self-care/ADLs).
    • Implement the daily classroom schedule as designed by the Teachers and modify as necessary to address behavioral needs.
    • Implement programs per, and collect data on, the Short -Term Objectives (STO) as indicated in the program book and per the program schedule.
    • Assist senior behavioral staff in the development and implementation of research projects.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Enrollment and continued progress in graduate level program in related field 
    • Experience working with individuals who display challenging behavior
    • Demonstrated proficiency in applied behavioral analysis
    • Ability to complete graphing in an accurate and timely manner
