    May Institute is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavior Therapist in San Jose, California who want to make a positive difference in the lives of children and adolescents diagnosed with autism or developmental disabilities. In this position you will work directly with children, teaching them communication, social, and play skills. This instruction will occur in the natural context of a child's home, school, or other community setting. You will be trained in state-of-the-art instruction based on the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) and receive supervision from an experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

    This is an exciting opportunity to:

    • Implement individually designed behavior and skills training programs to children with developmental disabilities
    • Learn how to record and analyze meaningful data to track progress and effectiveness of program
    • Utilize graphing software to effectively map growth and progress of child
    • Graph data to illustrate progress over time
    • Be an integral part of a clinical team

    We are looking for someone who has:

    • Been working towards or has obtained  a Bachelor’s degree
    • A budding interest in Psychology (special education?) and looking to gain experience in the field
    • An interest in working with children and adolescents who have developmental disabilities

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Early Childhood Development or related field required 
    • RBT Certification preferred
    • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children who have developmental disabilities
    • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
    • Ability to interact with children, i.e. running and implementing physical intervention strategies if necessary
    • Comfortable working with children who display behavior problems
    • ABA experience preferred
    • Working knowledge of special education preferred
