Summary

 

May Institute is an award-winning nonprofit organization that provides educational, rehabilitative, and behavioral healthcare services to individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities, brain injury, mental illness, and behavioral health needs.

 

The May Institute is currently seeking a Developmental Educator who will work as part of a team to serve children from birth to three years of age in a community-based, family-centered program. The position works directly with the children and their families in the child’s natural environment; this might include, but is not limited to, the child’s home, or day care.  This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate of Early Intervention or Early Childhood Education programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide home visits to address needs and issues related to the family
  • Participate in screening and assessment appointments
  • Support assigned child in fully participating in activities with typical peers in a community group setting and/or within a Parent-initiated play group
  • Coordinate supports identified by family in child’s IFSP
  • Coordinate curriculum with other team members for services within the child’s natural environment
  • Provide developmentally appropriate activities for toddlers that encourage inclusionary interaction with typical peers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major or concentration in infants and toddlers (includes Early Intervention and Early Childhood Education).
  • Must be creative, flexible, energetic and motivating
  • Prior experience with infants, toddlers, and families required
  • Reliable transportation
